Dear Fellow Advanced Practice Nurse:
You may have heard of a new nursing organization in Illinois.
The
Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing (ISAPN) was formed
earlier this year to meet the ongoing legislative, reimbursement and practice
challenges facing all of us.
ISAPN represents all four specialties of
advanced practice nurses recognized under Illinois law, CNMs, CRNAs, CNPs and
CNSs. Our members come from diverse practice settings and from every region of
Illinois.
We currently have over 400 members and we
continue to grow. We have already had some successes in our first year
including:
- Successful lobbying and passage of Senate
Bill 2223, which is now law and
provides a "license pending status" for APNs.
- Continuing education credits through
conferences offered in Chicago,
Bloomington , Urbana and Springfield.
- A slate of ISAPN Board of Directors
candidates for Fall 2002 that represents
all four member specialties.
We have contracted with a professional
management team who provides lobbying services, fields calls to our toll-free
number, manages the website and provides many other services on our behalf. We
are holding our First Annual Meeting and Symposium this weekend in
Springfield. IANA will provide 14 CEUs credits for attendance. If you
are interested in more information about ISAPN our would like to learn more
about the Symposium, please call us toll free at 1-866-GO-IL-APN or visit our
website www.illinoisadvancednurses.org
You are already a member of a strong, cohesive
organization. ISAPN does want to represent all APNs in Illinois in partnership
with IANA. Join today, come celebrate our diversity and unity in ISAPN.
Sincerely,
Michelle Buck, CNS & Peter Kale, CNP
